The Dynamic “Pinoy” Entertainment
Posted on Sep 01, 2009 under Pinoy Showbiz News | No CommentThe Filipino entertainment industry is a hodgepodge of styles and personalities. It forges a convergence of classes – the elite and the mass sharing common interests and patronizing the same forms of entertainment. It is vibrant and dynamic by nature, continuously changing through time and persistently keeping up with the odds. The show business (generally called “showbiz” in the local context) plays a great role in shaping the Pinoy culture, for it is after all based on the average Pinoy – who laughs or cries at the tiniest bit of provocation, who sings and dances to shrug away the daily worries, who appreciates beauty in the aesthetics and beyond, and who simply hungers for thrills.
So it is not a surprise that the entertainment world in the Philippines lives on amidst crises and harsh times. It has taken the shape of the Filipino’s mind, feeding to interests and even influencing lifestyles. The showbiz world is interactive, allowing each one to join in and ride along. This is evident in the dominance of game shows and other interactive venues in the television industry. It is simply not an exclusive amenity but a shared one as it significantly unites the Filipino people – young or old – one way or another. The entertainment world – the Pinoy show business in particular – continues to play a great role in whatever societal aspect in the country, either through endorsements or by mere unconscious influence brought about by their prominent views and lifestyles. Actresses, actors, and other such artists in the country have not only provided for the Filipino’s craving for overflowing entertainment; they have also contributed to the growth of the commercial industry in the country.
