PAPAYA dance hits Good Morning America

The Papaya Dance which was popularized by the “Pilipinas, Game KNB?”, game show hosted by Edu Manzano, was introduced to the American viewers in Good Morning America. They tagged Papaya Dance as the newest international dance craze after The Chicken Dance and Macarena. The Good Morning America hosts Diance Sawyer, Robin Roberts, Chris Cuomo and Sam Champion tried the simple steps in their March 21 episode.<br>

The acknowledgment is a bit late since it was a hit here last year. Edu Manzano was able to convince US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney to dance the Papaya with him on ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda.” The dance hit “Papaya” was first introduced in the country in the ‘70s which Edu revived by releasing a dance album last April 2007 and became a fad by August that a dance album titled “Edu Manzano: World’s Greatest Dance Steps” with “Papaya” as its carrier single was released.
