After surviving misfortunes and heartbreaks, Marimar Aldama (Marian Rivera) and Sergio Santibañez (Dingdong Dantes) will finally tie the knot during the finale of Marimar this Friday, March 14. This ends of the eight-month-old TV series that topped No. 1 in the primetime and reached an all-time high of 49.5 percent rating according to Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).

The wedding ceremony was shot in San Agustin Church, Intramuros, Manila, last March 10. And a star-studded reception will be aired live from GMA Network’s Studio 3 tonight, March 14.

Last Sunday, in a TV special titled Marimar…Isang Pasasalamat we were able to witness the preparations for the grand wedding. Top designer Rajo Laurel made a fully-beaded silver satin gown of Marimar while Randy Ortiz designed the tuxedo worn by Segio. Marian is said to wear a necklace worth P2 million that is borrowed from Milady where their wedding rings also came from. The expenses of the wedding were reduced since many of the suppliers offered their services and products, but still a multi-million peso has been spent for wedding.

Dino Guevarra and Marky Cielo served as best men while LJ Reyes and Arci Muñoz as the bridesmaids although they are not included in the casts but they were personally requested by Marian. Manilyn Reynes, who played Corazon, was chosen to be maid of honor. Marimar’s daughter Cruzita (played by Chelsea Salcedo) was the flower girl.

Standing as secondary sponsors were Annette Gozon-Abrogar, Tim Yap, Sheena Halili, Arthur Solinap and Rufa Mae Quinto.

And real life sweethearts Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid will serenade the wedding.

Is Angelika (Katrina Halili) will be present also in the wedding? We will find out tonight as the Philippines’ version of Marimar bids goodbye in the primetime.

Kudos to the whole cast and crew of Marimar for bringing back the Mexican fever in the land with a twist.
