Gretchen Barretto reinvents herself
Posted on Feb 19, 2008 under Pinoy Showbiz News | No CommentControversial actress Gretchen Barretto has transformed herself into a singer as she recorded her first album under Star Records.
Gretchen implied that she chose “Unexpected” to be the album’s title song because that’s how she feels about her life now.
Gretchen had originally wanted to declare in the booklet that the album is dedicated “to my groom-to-be”-but she had that precious piece of text deleted at the last minute. Gently grilled by host Boy Abunda in The Buzz as to why she had that very revealing text dropped, the stunning yet composed Gretchen admitted in a whisper, “Because I am not sure yet.” Then the tears flowed.
The CD entitled Unexpected has 12 tracks all these were sung by Gretchen herself, all of them speaking of love requited and unrequited.
The 12 songs included in the album are “Fly Me to The Moon,” “A House Is Not a Home,” “One Less Bell to Answer”; “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know,” “Moon River,” “Love Affair,” “An Affair to Remember”; “Please Don’t Ask Me,” “I Will,” “More,” “Unexpected,” “All the Things You Are,” “Love Me For What I Am,”
And for her only Tagalog song, Gretchen sings “Ikaw Lamang,” a touching song professing deep love.
the controversy….
Gretchen boasts that the album is now available worldwide-not just nationwide-and this is being made possible through ABS-CBN’s overseas offices, including those that market The Filipino Channel.
